On May 13th 2004, I visited the Boca Raton Museum of Art. It is located at 501 Plaza Real, Mizner Park in Boca Raton, Fl 33442. The name of the exhibit is the Mary Ann & Harold E. Pepper exhibit. This exhibit included the work of Charles Hinman which included Insights: CHARLES HINMAN. WORKS ON PAPER 1964-2004. Insights is a survey of more than 40 drawings on paper that chart the development of the artist?s visual thinking beginning in 1964 and continuing to his current works today. I chose the piece Study For “Ascending.”

The name of the artist is Charles Hinman, he was born in Syracuse, New York in 1932. The title of the piece I chose is Study For “Ascending.” The year that is was executed was 2002. It was done on plain paper using pencil, colored pencils and charcoal. The size of the piece is 19 by 25 inches, surrounded by a silver frame. The work was inspired by his wife who taught math. Charles used math to plot points and angles in which he used colors to indicate them. By connecting these points, Charles used lines to create three dimensional shapes. To be more
